Macro-Financial Division | International Monetary Fund
I specialize in payment systems and financial infrastructure. My work focuses on how evolving technology shapes consumer behaviour, and how technological shifts propagate through the macroeconomy. Additionally, I enjoy applying modern methods of computation, such as machine learning, in combination with alternative data to answer questions in macrofinance.
Research Interests
Financial Infrastructure
Consumer behaviour is shaped by its environment. By understanding financial infrastructure, we can understand how the systems that surround us passively shape how agents exchange value.
Machine learning
Data isn't getting smaller, nor less complex. By adopting new methodology we can leverage larger and less-structure data to forecast values, label data, and execute computational tasks more efficiently.
Fintech
From fast-payments to BNPL, we're seeing everything from the ACH transfer to credit card be reimagined. Much like the introduction of digital clearing houses, there's a current reimagination of traditional infrastructure.
